CORONA VIRUS

Please be aware that due to the Coronavirus pandemic, and following the latest government advice, a number of clubs and Societies have decided to cancel their Exhibitions. We will keep our exhibition diary above up to date.

Our mail order service will continue as normal. We are experiencing long delays from some of our suppliers, both etchers and brass casters, many have been closed during the lockdown. Although most are now re-opened, understandably many are experiencing problems with staff shortages due to self isolation, and inefficient working due to social distancing. If an item you order is not in stock we will notify you, and back order it if you wish. Thank you in advance for your patience and understanding. We want to support our customers so we have now temporarily changed our postage charges. UK orders below £30.00 will remain at £2.00 P&P for UK orders above £30.00 will be sent post free.

Website appearance.

Following some changes by WordPress, the original layout and theme for our website pages has been replaced by a default layout. This has resulted in an unsatisfactory presentation of the information on most pages. We are working to rectify this.

Mashima Motors

I have now sold out of Mashima motors and regrettably unable to obtain any more. I am looking into suitable alternatives.

Recent additions.

We now supply several LNWR wagons formerly in Nick Easton’s BIWO range. Now supplied as complete kits, these are; Diag 77A Trolley wagon, Diag 82 Boiler trolley, Diag 97 Platform trolley, and Diag 105/106. This last kit will build either the D105 four wheel boiler trolley or the D106 Chemical pan trolley.

GNR/LNER Q1 and Q2 kits. These kits were developed by Frank Davies for the Shipley MRS Clayton project, as featured in MRJ. The build also has a blog on RMWeb. The kits are beautifully designed, and etched in brass and nickel silver with optional parts to build inside valve gear, which can be made to work if required. Castings are mainly in brass.

LNWR/LMS/BR Ramsbotton 0-4-0ST. This beautiful kit features a fantastically cast, one piece resin cast boiler/saddle tank/smokebox/firebox including chimney dome and safety valve. The casting is hollow to allow weight to be added, and has just enough space to fit our Mashima motor and gearbox combination. The rest of the kit is traditionally etched in brass and nickel silver. with brass and nickel silver castings, including between the frame detail. Kit price is £120.00 motorising set is £34.30

LNWR/LMS/BR. D17 20ton six wheel brakevan. The one piece body is superbly cast in resin from a pattern by Clive Croome. The compensated or rigid underframe is etched in nickel silver. detail castings are in whitemetal and cast brass.

Now available!

MR Railmotor. Etched body in 12 thou brass, it is designed to be built in small sections which will help with painting and lining, which then bolt onto the floor unit. The power bogie has full outside walschaerts valve gear and is etched in nickel silver, so we have included lots of spare parts! The kit will include cast nickle silver crossheads to simplify assembly.

NER S3/LNER B16 4-6-0. Previously available in the Steve Barnfield range of 4mm etched locos, this kit has been updated with an additional etch providing the later 49a type boiler and plain or beaded splashers.

LNWR/WCJS 45ft Clerestory Roof Family saloon. Etched in .012″ brass, with a profile moulded wooden roof.
